We had got a nice place to stay at Diveagar. It was homestay at Avalaskars from where we could just walk to the beach.

It is a nice clean beach. We were the only people on the beach and had a great time.

Saanvi enjoyed playing at the beach, she had a great time playing in water and then collecting sea shells.

Contrary to our expecta tions Ishu did not like playing in water at the beach. His favourite place at home is bathroom and he likes playing in water a lot.

We then had our breakfast and left for Murud.

Next ferry was 45 mins away and he will start the ferry after he gets minimum number of passengers 50+ . There was one more family and we decided to hire a boat for us at 1.5k for up and down journey to Janjira. Basically there are two small boats one with diesel motor which pulls and another with passengers. After going about a kilometer in the sea the diesel motor failed.

So they opened the age old sails to catch the wind. After stopping for the wind a couple of times we reached Janjira fort built in the mid sea.

Janjira fort is the only fort that no one was able to successfully capture ever.

Shivaji's son Sambhaji tried to build another fort near this in the sea and planned attack from there. But he was not able to complete it.

There were couple of changes in the plan, we skipped Hariharesh war as it was another beach similar to Diveagar and changed the route while going back to go through Mahabalesh war and Pachagani.

We stopped for the sunset a couple of kilometers before Mahabaleshwar and enjoyed the views.

We shopped in the Mahabal eshwar market for fresh strawberrys, corn, etc. Had nice Icecream and left for Sangli. The two days went very fast and we enjoyed every bit. We will surely comeback to visit other parts of Konkan. The drive on NH17 is great. We have a trip planned to Vythiri on this highway in Jan. We also plan to do a complete NH17 trip from Managalore - goa till Mumbai sometime.
